Paris Saint-Germain Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Claim French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now claimed the season-opening cup on fourteen different occasions.

The Parisian giants required a stoppage-time leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to overcome Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive Trophee des Champions victory.

The Champions League holders seemed to be coasting towards a comfortable win in the showdown featuring the French league champions and the French Cup holders after the French winger opened the net early on.

However, the southern French side fired two times late to seize a shock lead. Initially, Mason Greenwood scored from the penalty spot, before Willian Pacho inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.

In a breathtaking turn of fortune, the Portuguese striker snatched a vital equaliser in the dying seconds to send the match into a penalty shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the hero, saving crucial kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Goncalo Ramos, the midfielder, the full-back, and the young talent all scored with composure for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

The record champions PSG, who met last season's Ligue 1 runners-up Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now won this competition for the 12th time in the last thirteen years.
